太陽ではなく月の光によって姿を表す夜の虹。
一定の条件が揃わないと見られない現象のため、ハワイでは見た人に幸運を運んでくるという言い伝えがある。このグラスを手にした人にも幸せが訪れますようにという思いで作りました。

A night rainbow, revealed not by sunlight, but by the light of the moon.
Because this rare phenomenon only appears when very specific conditions are met, legend in Hawaii says it brings good fortune to those who witness it.I made this work with the hope that it brings happiness to whoever uses it.

小林昂平によるオリジナル技法「サギング切子」で自らガラス生地から制作する１点物の「Uno」シリーズの作品です。完成まで数日から1週間を要し、手間と時間をかけて制作していきます。作品名にある数字はグラスの高さと口径を表しています。(単位はmm)

〜「サギング切子」と「Uno」について〜

「サギング」は電気炉を使用したガラス工芸技法のひとつで、丸い穴の開いた板状の型の上に板ガラスを置いて熱することで、穴からガラスを落として器をつくる技法です。そのサギングと切子を組み合わせたオリジナル技法が「サギング切子」です。


穴からガラスを落とす際は、下に型を置くことなく重力だけを頼りに器の形を成型していきます。そのため絶妙な温度管理が必要になります。温度が少しでも低いとガラスが穴から落ちなくなり、逆に温度が少しでも高いとガラスが床に落ちすぎてしまい器の形とは縁遠いものになってしまいます。理想の形で仕上げるのがとても難しい技法です。

unoはイタリア語で1という意味。作品ひとつひとつをガラス生地の制作から自らおこなうこと、サギングの際にガラスが落ちてくる様子を横から見るとUの字にみえることから、一連の作品シリーズを「Uno」と名付けました。

~About Uno glass~
All Uno glass pieces are one-of-a-kind, created by Kouhei Kobayashi using his original "Sagging faceting(kiriko)" technique. First, the vessels are made in an electric furnace using the sagging technique, which utilizes heat and gravity, and then kiriko is applied to the shaped vessels to complete the process. The name "Uno glass" has two meanings. One is that he creates each piece by himself, from the production of the glass material to the final product, The other is that when sagging, the glass melts and falls through the hole, which looks like the letter U.
